Shadow Box Project

I have seen lots of shadow box projects lately and have been inspired to try my hand at making one. I gave this to my prayer sister this weekend and am hoping she likes it.

I will list the Stampin' Up! supplies I used below and am sure you will figure out the rest. It's a pretty simple project. :D I used a 12x12 shadow box, but 8x8 works just as well.

Mother"s Day Card

Happy Resurrection Day everyone! I hope you had a blessed day reflecting on what the Lord has done!! I had a little sickie today so we stayed in. While she was resting I came up with another Mother's Day card. I used the double embossing technique with my Big Shot, which left the center of my card front flat and smoothe so I could stamp on it. I love playing with the Big Shot!

Isn't this litte chick just the cutest?! I got this from another demo who got it from her upline. So clever and fun. :D So, the original project was supposed to be done in Daffodil Delight with the Hostess Orange Cupcakes. However, there were no orange cupcakes to be found the night I had my stamp club... I know... nothing like procrastinating! :D My DH did find the strawberry cupcakes though and so a last minute change of color and here we are. Color Challenge Just For You!

This past weekend was so much fun for me. I accompanied two of my good friends to a scrapbooking event in Lincoln, NE. The event sponsored the Make-a-Wish Foundation and was a huge success.

While we were there (and in between our laughing fits), the three of us issued challenges to each other. Talk about leaving your comfort zone. We all have different colors/sketch styles we are drawn to, so it was neat to stretch myself a little bit. :D

One of the challenges I issued was a color challenge. The colors I chose were:

I enjoyed making this card so much, but I must admit that this card is completely cased. I have no idea where it came from, but if you recognize it as yours I would love to give you credit. Just leave me a note in the comment section.

I think the "Tempting Turquoise" and "Basic Black" inks make this so striking, not to mention the detail of the stamp itself.

If you are interested in getting this stamp set called "Because I Care" let me tell you how you can get it for FREE! Yes, I said FREE! You see, this stamp is a hostess level one set. All you have to do get this stamp set is book a workshop with me. If your workshop generates $150 in sales (which is generally no problem at all) then you get your choice of any level one stamp set and $15 in Stampin' Up! money to spend. Another option to make this card, is to come to card club. This will be one of four cards that we will make on Monday, October 25, 2010. I had high hopes of posting a card and recipe for you today, err, I mean yesterday. But when the stomach bug hit one of my little girls', those hopes went out the window. :-( But no worries! My little one is back to good health and hey, it may be late, but it's better than never.

So here is my post for NCMD. I am loving the richness of the colors and have you checked out that embossing??!! This card is super quick and easy to make, but looks like you spent tons of time on it. It's kind of like that commercial where the lady makes Rice Krispie treats in 5 minutes and then throws some flour on herself to make it look like she slaved in the kitchen before she presents the goods to her family. :D The key to this card is the Elegant Lines embossing folder. It is so beautiful. So go ahead and put some ink on your forehead and fingers and give this beauty to someone and watch them ooooh and aahhh. :D I will post deets below. DEETS:

Ink: Chocolate Chip
Stamp: Fun and Fast Notes ( I used the sentiment portion of the wedding cakes, together forever stamp)
Accessories: Chocolate Chip Satin Ribbon, Snail, Glue Dots
Tools: Big Shot, Elegant Lines embossing folder, label punch, Stamp-a-majig

* Cut a 5.5 x 8.5 piece of Temping Turquoise cardstock.
* Use a bone folder to fold this piece in half and get a nice crisp fold.
* Place front panel into Elegant Lines embossing folder.
* Run the folder through your Big Shot. Be sure to follow the recipe on your Big Shot platform to do this correctly.
* Use your label punch on the card front ( I did mine at 1/4" from right side and a 1/2" from bottom)
* Cut a 5.5 X 4.25 piece of Pretty in Pink Card Stock
* Use your Snail to adhere to inside of card
* Ink up your sentiment portion only of the "Together Forever" stamp with Chocolate Chip Ink and stamp onto your stamp-a-majig
* Using the clear plastic and t-square of your stamp-a-majig, line up your sentiment to be place in the center of your label punch out.
* Re-ink your sentiment and stamp into the center of your punch and onto the Pretty In Pink cardstock
* Apply Choclate Chip satin ribbon and bow to the card front using glue dots

That's it! Your ready to give it away. I hope you enjoy making this card as much as I did!

Season Of Friendship

This is going to quickly become one of my favorite stamp sets! :D Today I used "Season of Friendship" in a scrap book layout to show guests at my upcoming workshop that stamps aren't just for card fronts. I added a little extra glitz by embossing the tree trunk and leaves with clear embossing powder. Check out the bottom image to get a close up of that beautiful shine!

Christmas Project Done!

I know I've been missing in action for awhile.... But there has been lots of projects going on and life just got ummm ......Busy! Here is a project that my hubby and I worked on together for our 5 year old. It will be her Christmas gift. A couple of months ago I found a blog that featured a revamp project using an old entertainment unit. The lady did an amazing job and we were pretty confident we could handle this project. So we found an old unit off of Craig's list, primed and painted, turned the doors on their side, cut out a hole for a sink and went to the re-store for Habitat For Humanity to get some fixtures. The burners are just old lids off of butter tubs that we spray painted black and sealed. For the window I took an old picture frame and painted and sealed it. I chose a whimsical photo and brought it into Adobe photo shop and added the grid lines to make it look like an actual paned window. We hollowed out the front of one of the cabinet doors and replaced it with plexi glass so the oven had a window. My wonderful mom, (THANK YOU MOM!) made the curtain. I think that she is making another curtain for the bottom center cubby . This will be a place for our little one to hide her dishes away when she is not using them. The shelf above the stove will hold a microwave that her aunt is giving her for Christmas. Should be lots of fun!!! Thanks for stopping by. I will try to post a little more often too. :-)
